Quilters Make Fabric Boxes for Gift Giving

Well, it’s been a little while so I wrote a post. It’s been really busy at www.QuiltingResourceCenter.com lately. We’ve done so many fun projects, I’m just not sure which thing to talk about.

Finished Fabric Box for Quilters

So for now I’ll tell you how excited I am about making some of these great fabric boxes based on a pattern by Linda Johansen, although in our training video we use a different product that was just becoming available when Linda did the book, and it makes them oh-so-easy!

Lucy Sessions teaches this project and completes an entire box and lid in just half an hour using two fat quarters of fabric plus the Temtex 2 product that is really stiff and sticky on both sides so you can iron on the fabric to the form. Makes it a piece of cake! And Lucy makes it so much fun!

You can buy the DVD demonstrating how to make them either at QuiltingResourceCenter.com or at our Ebay store Quilters Resource“”>Quilters Resource. There are numerous copies of the book on sale on Ebay as well. Why not buy both and have a ball watching as your sew?

Of course, if you’re a current member of the the World’s Largest Quilting Bee at QuiltingResourceCenter.com, you don’t pay for access to the video any time you want it.

Quilt Shop Makes Donation

Quilt n Go Makes Donation to CharityWhat a generous idea! Ruth Dean, the owner of Quilt N Go in East Leroy, Michigan, knows the joy of “giving back”. Recently Ruth donated 42 bolts of fabric from Quilt N Go to the Battlecreek Health System Auxiliary Quilt Guild. Donna Taylor and Ruth Hetletvedt who co-chair the guild accepted the donation.

For the third year the guild is hand-quilting three quilts to raffle off as part of their three-year pledge of $250,000 to help support the expansion of the Cancer Care Center as well as the local Hospice Residence.

If you live in the Battle Creek area, you can volunteer to help in this worthy cause by calling Audrey Adkins at 966-8470.

Do you know someone else who’s made a generous donation to a local charity? Please let us know!

And be sure to stop by Ruth Dean’s Quilt N Go at 7212 6 1/2 Mile Road, East Leroy, Michigan 49051. Or you can find them online at www.quiltngo.com.

New Quilters Broadcasting Studio

French Roses QuiltWell, we’ve been away for a while but we haven’t been inactive. We’ve been working hard at the Quilting Resource Center to create the new broadcasting studio for Quilters Broadcasting Network and we have some surprises coming up soon.

Today we’re finishing the editing on the French Roses quilt by Heather French with Lucy Sessions of Stitchin’ Heaven as the teacher. It’s a fun and easy quilt that a beginner could really enjoy and an experienced quilter will just breeze through.

I love it so much I’m thinking of using the technique to make a jacket using smaller flowers, of course, so I don’t look like a blimp in it! ;-) You can check out the “how-to” videos at www.QuiltingResourceCenter.com in the Learning Center and see if you’d like to give it a try.

Our friends at www.stitchinheaven.com sell the pattern as well as a kit for the quilt top. It’s a shabby-sheek look that only gets better with washing.

Hmmm….I hear the sewing machine calling my name. Can you suggest some other patterns that would make great clothing? Happy stitching!
